Many people in Church this morning kept staring at my tee shirt. Haha nth surprise to me as my shirt which I just bought online from a UKSoccer shop website. 1 guy came up to me and say he likes my shirt! LOL. The message on my tee truly describe me. Dear God - I pray daily. Thanks for beer, women and football - What I am interest and like. That sentence sum it all you need to know about Reyes.
Book review
For the past 3 months, I have been reading 3 books which I bought from Amazon. It was revelation after revelation revealed to me while reading. Some of the author I really never heard before but I get to know them through Internet and other source via well known ministers around the world. Frank Viola and Ed Young are 2 of the most incredible communicator I have ever heard of. If you do have the chance, goggle about them and get to know what they are doing for God. They open up my worldview on the Bible! They are creative in their thinking and also the way the present the gospel!
The first book: Unchristian by David Kinnaman
This book was intro by Ps Mark Conner in his blog. This book is groundbreaking and is not for the fade hearted! This book gathered information through survey and interview about what people in the world (Unsaved) think about Christianity based on the perception of Christian. Christianity has an image problem. When I was reading the book, i can't be help but to see my church matches the perception that the book mention. I mean is a universal thing that people think that way of the church. There are 5 main perception that what the people think about us Christian. I am not going to mention here if you can pick up a copy and study urself. Even Christian in the church have these perception what more the non christian?
To quote from the book:
"Through these surveys and interviews, the Lord has graciously helped me understand the experiences and in many cases the very real offenses, confusions, questions, discouragements and disappointments that people have had when interacting with Christianity. It's not a pretty picture."
The second book: From eternity to here by Frank Viola
This is 1 of the best book I have ever read. I just can't put it down when I starts to read. It is the masterpiece of masterpiece of all about God eternal plan for us! It is so fascinating that my mind was so into the book. It open up my mind to another realm. Serious I am not "tua pao". Ha Ha... There are 3 parts to this book and every part open a realm upon one another. You may heard the story before but the way Frank did it, was way off our imagination. God's eternity plan for the human being. We need to rediscover the ageless purpose of God in out life. What is an Organic church? Get a copy of this book and YOUR LIFE WILL CHANGE! The love you have for God will rekindled!
The third book: The creative leader by Ed young
This guy is crazy! Ed is so creative till he is from another planet! This book is about leadership. On how a leader can creativity do church and lead the people to God creative plan for them. Ed host an annual conference call the C3. This February, if I am not wrong, Ps kong sent Ps Derek and Aries to C3 conference in USA. This annual conference aim to equip leaders with creative ideas and methods to do church and to reach out to this Contemporary culture. C3, Creative church conference attracts thousands of people. I have preparing to pound my lappy on new sermons based on this 3 books but I guess it will take me a long time to finish. But 1 get a time. I pray that in the process of preparing sermons, I will get to know the Bible well. I got the the books I am reading for the rest of this year already through the year 2010. Since after the lesson on homiletics during SOT, I been reading books, newspaper and articles & stories all around just to get ideas to craft a new sermon out.
